About this calculator

This is a free tool developed to support the crested gecko community, based on genetics information, breeder knowledge, and publicly available resources.

The calculator is designed to help explore potential pairings by combining Mendelian genetic calculations with phenotype-based offspring predictions. Genetic outcomes are presented as percentages when they can be calculated through established inheritance patterns, while polygenic and phenotype-based traits are explored through a separate qualitative ranking of plausible offspring phenotypes, taking into account parental traits, color interactions, pattern expression, and other observable characteristics.

The goal is not to predict exactly what a clutch will look like, but to provide a useful way to explore possible outcomes while keeping genetic probabilities and phenotype predictions clearly separated.

Crested gecko genetics and phenotype classification continue to evolve as knowledge and breeding experience grow. For this reason, community feedback is an important part of this project.
